Welcome to my new blog!
I am guessing that most of you have found this blog because of my books “When Bad Christians Happen to Good People” and “Bring’em Back Alive”. I will be posting often about issues that affect the body of Christ. The topics will range from politics to embarrassing Christians. We will discuss faith in our culture and what it means to be an authentic follower of Christ. It will be honest, edgy, and it should be fun.
I look forward to the dialogue.
Blessings,
Dave

Welcome to the blog world. I’m posting a little something about you myself and hope many folks read your writing!

Dave,
Thanks for the notice about your BLOG. I’ll bookmark it and check frequently.
IMHO, your comments about NOLA were spot-on. But then, you usually are!!!!

Dave —
Thanks for starting this Blog — I think it’s a good idea and I’m looking forward to reading your postings and the responses.
My comment about Bob Dylan going public and then becoming private about his faith — from what I’d heard (from a well-known Christian musician), Mr. Dylan was being beseiged by "small-minded" evangelical types who were trying to dictate to him how to do his music, how to conduct his performances, and how to live his life. These people were generally trying to use this outstanding performer to further their own personal goals and agendas. A pity, too, because it had the opposite effect of shutting him down completely in the public arena.
At this time I’m taking a "Wait And See" approach with Anne Rice. I’m not at all familiar with her books as they are not in the catagory of literature I normally read.
Really enjoyed your two books, Dave — they were excellent! I am truly looking forward to your next one, which I do hope you’re working on. How about touching on the topic of The Secularization of Christianity? I really think this is why Christians are so ineffective as witnesses in our society. They blend in with non-Christians just a little TOO well.
Roger says "Hi" and he hopes I won’t give you too hard a time with all this. I started attending a Bible study class 5 weeks ago at a local church and already I’ve got members who want to join a private Bible study with me (a splinter group, as it were) because I ask the difficult questions — and these people want answers, not the overused Christian platitudes.
Wishing you and your family the Peace & Love of God and Our Lord Jesus Christ,
Judith

Well, I found this blog because you sent me an email about it, but I did enjoy your first book, and your second book is on my "short list" of books to be read.
I also enjoyed your appearance a few months back on the TV show, in which you played the role of spoiler to both the host and your fellow debater; it was funny to watch the two of them roll out just about anything (i.e., "dead, mangled puppies — I LOVE ’em; if you love ’em too, call me at…" Buck Henry’s famous routine on SNL) to get a rise out of you, and there you were, unflappable to the last. That, more than anything, proves your fitness as a voice for Christianity in the era of the sound byte.
March on, good friend.
Lonnie
I’ve got your new book, but haven’t had a chance to read it. I am looking forward to it. I got two other books at the same time, LOVING HOMOSEXUALS AS JESUS WOULD, by Chad W. Thompson. Also TOXIC FAITH, by Stephen Arterburn & Jack Felton.
I have a question for you Mr. Burchett: What do you make of all the folks who get their soapboxes out every time there is a natural disaster, to shake their fingers and thump their Bibles at saint and sinner alike?
